01.Fresh juice recipes

We used electric juice extractors to make these juices. Use fresh fruit and vegetables, wash and prepare them as appropriate. You can reuse fruit pulp in bread, cakes and muffins, and add vegetable pulp to soups, frittatas and casseroles.

Each recipe serves about 2.

Pineapple & mint juice

  • 1 pineapple
  • 5 sprigs fresh mint leaves

Note: Pineapple contains an enzyme called bromelain which helps break down protein, so this is a great juice if you’ve over-indulged on meat or dairy products.

Pear, pineapple & grapefruit juice

  • 2 pears
  • 1 small pineapple
  • 1 Ruby Red grapefruit

Note: Pink and Ruby Red grapefruit varieties are sweeter and less acidic than the yellow variety.

Orange, lemon & strawberry juice

  • 2 oranges
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 cup strawberries

Note: This is a great ‘fresh start’ juice. Strawberry juice contains salicylates, which are natural painkillers.

Apple, celery & carrot juice

  • 2 Granny Smith apples
  • 2 celery sticks (it’s best to remove the strings)
  • 2 carrots

Note: Carrots contain Vitamin A, which is essential for maintaining the skin, eyes, urinary tract and lining of the nervous, respiratory and digestive systems. They don’t have to be peeled — most of the vitamins are found just beneath the skin.
