How to find a kitchen utensil that feels like it was made for your hand.
Able to slice, scoop, prick and carve with precision, utensils should feel like they were made for your hand. They aren't straightforward, either. They say great knives, for example, are forged from a single piece of steel instead of machine-stamped – but we find that's not always true. Utensils and interesting in the same sentence – who knew?

The utensil test team
Our kitchen crew like to put a fork in the manufacturers' claims about their products. Taking to utensil testing like hungry hippos, they give them a good going over for balance, blade, comfort and grip. They tell us they're making slurping noises for testing purposes, but that bit – well, we're not so sure.
