In 2019 we collected data on mobile phone service providers, both for plans including a phone and for SIM-only (if you already have a phone). You can see who the best provider for mobile plans with a phone and the best SIM-only plan provider.
Over 23% of complaints to the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) come from Optus, which is no small amount. We couldn't say whether this OK because Optus has a very large customer base or that they don't satisfy their existing user base because the TIO doesn't release subscription figures, unlike the electricity industry.
