Submission to CFR-ACCC consultation on regulating cash distribution

CHOICE supports the Council of Financial Regulators and the ACCC’s proposal for a new regulatory framework for the cash distribution sector, however more needs to be done to protect the future of cash.

We recommend that regulators and the Federal Government:

  • finalise measures to ensure the banking sector delivers adequate level of service to customers wherever they live, including reasonable access to cash
  • pre-emptively ban surcharges on cash transaction
