CHOICE has released a new survey revealing consumers’ favourite appliance retailers to shop at, plus the ones not worth your time or money.
CHOICE surveyed 2,704 members and supporters who had bought appliances or electronics in the past 12 months, either online or in-store. Respondents were asked to rate retailers on factors such as customer service, value for money, and the variety of products available.
“Appliances Online was rated the best online retailer for the fourth survey in a row, receiving an overall score of 89%. Our survey respondents praised the retailer for its excellent customer service, fast delivery and easy-to-use website,” says CHOICE Director of Reviews and Testing, Matthew Steen.
“Temu received the lowest overall score in our survey at 57%. While respondents appreciated the low prices, many were concerned about the product quality. Some also told us they would never buy major appliances from this retailer,” says Steen.
The concerns around the reliability of online marketplaces like Temu comes after CHOICE found potentially dangerous products on numerous occasions across online platforms.
“E&S, Winnings, Retravision, Bing Lee, and Betta were rated as offering the best overall in-store shopping experience. They were all praised for their customer service and providing a more personalised experience. Respondents also appreciated their product range and delivery services,” says Steen.
“By contrast, Kmart, Aldi, Officeworks, Bunnings, and Big W received the lowest scores for their in-store experience. Kmart shoppers found the store layout made it difficult to find items, and many respondents said these retailers provided poor customer support and after-sales service,” says Steen.
The survey found previous positive experiences, plus helpful and knowledgeable staff, often determined where people shop. Price and range were often secondary considerations.
