CHOICE reveals the best tasting milk chocolate blocks

Tony’s Chocolonely, Lindt and Mr Beast products take top spots.

Last updated: 09 July 2025

CHOICE has taste tested 19 milk chocolate blocks from brands including Lindt, Cadbury, Tony Chocolonely, Mr Beast, and Aldi to help you decide which one to add to your grocery basket.

"For the sweet tooths, it's hard to walk through the confectionery aisle and not pick up a chocolate block. However, with chocolate prices at an all-time high, we want to ensure you're spending your money wisely by choosing a delicious block," says Editorial Director, Mark Serrels.

Our experts blind-tasted each milk chocolate sample and assessed them by flavour, texture, appearance and aroma. The CHOICE Expert Rating is made up of the taste test score as rated by the judges, and is recommended by achieving an expert rating of 80% or more.

If you're looking for a chocolate that is more budget-friendly, CHOICE experts gave the green light to a few products.

"The Aldi Dairy Fine Milk Chocolate was the cheapest chocolate block we tested, at $1.94 per 100g with a good score of 70%. Similarly, the Coles Belgian Milk Chocolate and Woolworths Belgian Milk Chocolate were closely priced, both costing $2.00 per 100g," says Serrels.

"Of the cheaper options, the Woolworths Belgian Milk Chocolate was the standout, with a CHOICE Expert Rating of 81%. This goes to show that price doesn't always equal performance, or in this case - price doesn't have to compromise deliciousness," says Serrels.
