Why does CHOICE partner?

In an increasingly competitive and specialised marketplace, CHOICE is looking to third parties to enable us to deliver extra services to members. CHOICE is in the business of helping consumers. If we are to continue to grow, we need to continually improve our offer and value to members. In areas where we don't have the necessary expertise, either technical or topical, CHOICE may form a partnership or joint venture with a third party. A partner can bring expertise that enhances the CHOICE brand in a mutually beneficial arrangement which in turn helps our members.

Most partnership proposals are discussed at Board level and due diligence is carried out. We also consider cultural fit and shared purpose before entering into any arrangement.

Current partners

We currently have partners to help deliver these CHOICE services:

  • CHOICE Price and Buy provides a channel for visitors and members to compare prices and buy the products that CHOICE tests. The service is powered by Getprice on a white label site with CHOICE branding. CHOICE receives a set payment per clickthrough.
  • The Compare, Ditch and Switch part of CHOICE Online gives comparative financial information on bank accounts, savings accounts, credit cards, mortgages and short-term investments. Another white label site, this service is powered by Mozo and was launched to support the Better Banking campaign. It lets consumers easily compare and switch banks. Mozo receives a payment from financial institutions for any converted referrals. CHOICE does not receive any remuneration from Mozo. 
  • CHOICE Recommended . Manufacturers can use a special logo on products that have met CHOICE's strict testing standards and which appear in CHOICE What to Buy lists. Use of the logo is subject to strict guidelines and time periods. CHOICE also approves all promotional material featuring the CHOICE logo before use. Manufacturers pay a fee to secure a licence. 
  • CHOICE Awards . Every year we celebrate top performers through the CHOICE Awards. An Awards logo can be used in promotional material subject to a Deed of Licence and regulations. CHOICE does not receive a fee for Award licences. 
  • Union Shopper provide CHOICE Shopper, a telephone shopping service that finds the best price for consumers who are shopping for a particular product. 
  • CHOICE has an agreement with Consumer New Zealand (CNZ) for joint testing of products for publication by both organisations. This agreement runs each calendar year and CNZ pay CHOICE a fixed sum to get access to all product test results and input into the selection of products to be tested. They also can include up to 1 product in each test at no additional charge, however for more than 1 product costs are recovered by CHOICE. 
  • Kidspot. CHOICE and Kidspot have a content sharing arrangement where Kidspot provides specialist baby and children’s content for CHOICE Online and CHOICE in turn provides free components of our tests and research reports for publication on kidspot.com.au. There is no revenue component in this content sharing partnership.
