Freestanding (dual fuel) oven reviews

Last updated: 18 August 2015

A freestanding oven can be a big investment – and a big decision, especially if you're torn between gas or electric. Dual fuel ranges give you the best of both worlds: an electric oven with a gas cooktop. We lab test and review the latest models to help you find the best oven for you. Our buying guide will help you decide which size you need; you can also read more about our test methods for ovens and cooktops.

If you do a lot of entertaining or have a large family to cook for, the 90cm models will be a good option, but if you have less space to play with or just don't need such a big oven and cooktop, then the 60cm models may be a better choice.

Our review will help you:

  • compare the cooking performance of each oven and gas cooktop
  • find the one with the largest usable interior
  • find one that's easy to clean and use.
