Flavour
We tested vanilla and 'festive' (boozy) flavoured custards.
Consistency
We used a Bostwick Consistometer to measure the viscosity of the custards on test, and classified them in three categories: 'drench' (runniest), 'drizzle' or 'dollop' (thickest).
Type
We included both chilled and long life type custards.
Taste test score
The experts tasted all custard samples blind (without knowing the brands) in a randomised order, which was different for each expert. The scores are weighted as follows: 50% flavour and aroma, 30% texture and body and 20% appearance and presentation.
