18 digital camcorders independently reviewed & compared

  • Removable memory cards and small hard drives are now the storage format of choice to capture video memories.
  • Canon, Sony, Panasonic and JVC provide a range of standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD) camcorders, and CHOICE tested 18 of the latest models.
  • Only a couple of DV tape models are still available in Australia, kept mainly to satisfy the semi-professional market.
  • While we only tested Sony HD models, Sony also has several SD camcorders, however the newest models were not available in time for this test.
