CHOICE announces appointment of new CEO

13 April 2026

The Board of consumer advocacy group CHOICE has announced the appointment of a new CEO. Monique Perry, former Managing Director at Nielsen, will commence at CHOICE on 20 April 2026.

“We are excited to announce the appointment of Monique Perry as CHOICE’s new CEO. Monique has an impressive track record in consumer research and insights,” says CHOICE Board Chair, Nic Cola.

“Monique brings more than 30 years of leadership experience across consumer data, commercial strategy, partnerships and innovation, and joins CHOICE with a profound appreciation for what independent, evidence-based advocacy means to the Australians who rely on it,” says Cola.

The appointment follows a rigorous national search and marks a proud moment for CHOICE as it enters its seventh decade of service. Monique will lead an organisation that has shaped consumer rights legislation, exposed unfair market practices and given Australian consumers an authoritative, independent voice since 1959.

Quotes attributable to Monique Perry, incoming CHOICE CEO:

“CHOICE has earned something rare and precious – the unconditional trust of Australian consumers, built over 60 years of fearless, independent advocacy. My commitment is to honour that legacy, deepen that trust, and ensure CHOICE remains the most credible voice in the room wherever decisions affecting consumers are being made.”

“I have spent 30 years understanding consumers and what media they engage with and what products and services they buy. There is no more important place to bring that understanding than an organisation dedicated entirely to serving the consumers behind the data.”

Monique joins CHOICE having spent nearly three decades at one of the world’s leading consumer measurement and data companies. During that time, she held a succession of senior leadership roles across Australia and the Pacific, developing deep expertise in commercial strategy, partnership development, innovation and client engagement. Her career has been defined by translating complex consumer data into clear, actionable insight – a discipline she sees as direct preparation for leading an organisation whose authority rests on exactly that kind of rigour.

Monique will focus on expanding CHOICE’s testing, research and advocacy capability across the products and services that matter most to members today, and on reinforcing CHOICE’s role as a leading voice in policy and regulatory conversations that shape consumer outcomes.

Monique joins as the first female CEO since Louise Sylvan finished as CEO in 2003.

Monique succeeds Ashley de Silva, who left the role in February 2026 after two years with the organisation, following the announcement of his new position as CEO of Guide Dogs NSW.

The Board also wishes to thank Fiona Jolly who has been interim CEO since February 2026.
