Canopy rangehoods, which are like a freestanding flue, are usually more expensive than their retractable cousins, but they’re becoming an increasingly popular way of removing cooking smells and steam from your kitchen while you’re cooking a big family meal.

We tested 10 canopy rangehoods, 900 mm wide, looking at:

  • How well they remove steam in their two operational modes (ducted and recirculating).
  • How noisy they are to operate.
  • How easy they are to use and clean.
