CHOICE announces new Chair

4 September 2013

CHOICE has announced the appointment of Nicole Rich as Chair of its Board, replacing Jenni Mack, who had earlier announced her intention to step down after ten years on the Board, including seven years as Chair.

“Jenni Mack has led the transition of CHOICE from a magazine publisher to one of Australia's most successful digital businesses,” said Ms Rich.

“Jenni has also led a transformation in the governance of CHOICE, establishing a skills-based Board capable of navigating the organisation through major changes in the consumer landscape.

“Through this period, CHOICE has continued to exert significant influence in major reforms to consumer protection, financial advice, superannuation and consumer credit laws, as well as a new system of front-of-pack food labelling that was endorsed by ministers in June.

“Jenni has played a key role in some of these areas and I am pleased she has agreed to continue to represent CHOICE in a number of policy forums,” Ms Rich said.

Outgoing Chair Jenni Mack said “I leave the Board with CHOICE as a strong organisation, with an invigorated membership and an exciting digital future.

“New Chair Nicole Rich brings with her a wealth of experience in consumer rights, having previously worked as Director of Policy and Campaigns at the Consumer Action Law Centre and Supervising Solicitor of the Consumer Law Centre Victoria.

“Nicole has led successful campaigns and produced significant research on issues including bank penalty fees, access to energy and water, and the cost of telecommunications services for low-income households.”

Nicole is currently Director of Family, Youth and Children’s Law Services at Victoria Legal Aid.
