Can I use an ISOFIX child car seat in Australia if my car is compatible?

It depends. ISOFIX is a car seat installation system that's been around in Europe and North America for well over a decade. Child restraints with ISOFIX fittings are now being sold in Australia, but they still come with the top tether, which is a requirement for use here. It's illegal to use an ISOFIX model bought from overseas, so don't be tempted, even if it is cheaper. It won't pass Australian standards which include a top tether and other extra safety requirements.
