I’m just heading off for a week’s holiday to north of Newcastle at Boomerang Beach. I’m sure many of you are used to the beauty of Australia but being new to the country, it’s a great treat for me and my family to spend holidays in a place we also call home.

Before I go however I wanted to talk with you about the highs and lows we have had this week at CHOICE.

The feedback that we’ve received from some of you about the launch of the new CHOICE website is that you’ve found it a deeply frustrating experience. Links not working, search functions broken and our comments section not loading, it has been akin to being given the keys of a brand new car and then being told well you can’t drive it yet.

The problems we encountered while launching were genuinely unexpected and we are very sorry to those members who have been felt let down by CHOICE. I can assure you that we have been working night and day to put things right and at the time of writing the problems have begun to settle. Also this week, I was invited to be part of a SBS TV’s Insight program discussing competition in the grocery sector alongside Minister Craig Emerson, the ACCC’s Mr. Samuels, Senator Fiona Nash and a range of commentators and retailers. Interestingly neither Coles nor Woolworths were able to send representatives. Our feedback from our members via social media and the post program’s live chat, I’m happy to say have been very positive about CHOICE’s position.
