CHOICE surveyed 21 brands of travel insurance and 27 policies in total. We found:
• Differences in policy conditions, insurers cover different number of dependants under family cover and some insurers require you and your travel companion to have the exact itinerary in order to be insured under a duo policy.
• Premiums vary; for example there is a difference of $150 for a single adult travelling in Europe for 28 days.
• Some insurers provide automatic cover for some pre-existing medical conditions, while other conditions require medical assessment. Some insurers charge an application fee.
