01.LG side-by-side fridge voluntary recall
LG is committed to producing the highest quality products for consumers whose safety and wellbeing are our top priority. We have become aware that some of our old models of side-by-side door fridges are failing to meet high standards and posing a potential risk to consumer safety. We sincerely apologise and are taking every possible action to remove the risks these products pose from Australian homes, resolve the problem with minimal inconvenience to consumers, and put in place measures to ensure these problems do not occur again.
The products that are subject to this voluntary recall are the following side-by-side refrigerators that were manufactured between 2002 and 2006:

If consumers are unsure as to their model and serial number, they can locate it on the wall inside the right door.
LG has discovered that the micro-switch inside the ice maker in these fridges has the potential to deteriorate and cause the ice-maker to malfunction. In an extreme case there is a possible risk of fire.
LG takes the firm position that no risk is acceptable to its consumers and has taken the decisive action to ensure consumer safety by organising a voluntary recall.
LG is committed to the successful, safe and speedy resolution of this issue with minimal inconvenience to consumers. We are therefore advising that consumers call our customer care line on 1800 506 154 to immediately organise a repair of the side-by-side fridge
