01.Green beer claims - CHOICE complaint

Coopers Green Beer

In a series of advertisements that appeared as the rear cover to a series of issues of G Magazine between September 2007 and April 2008, Coopers made the claim that it has a tiny footprint, meets world's best pracitce, and is the greenest beer in Australia. Coopers claims in their advertisement "Big beer. Tiny footprint." when they had not yet completed measuring their carbon footprint.

CHOICE investigated these claims and concluded that Coopers does not have sufficient evidence to support them.

CHOICE made a formal complaint to the ACCC regarding advertising for Coopers beer.

Result : The ACCC investigated and took no further action. Coopers ceased making the claims.
