If one of your models is recommended in our What to Buy list, you're eligible to apply for a licence under the CHOICE Recommended scheme. This allows you to use the CHOICE Recommended logo for the marketing, promotion and point-of-sale of that model.
A question in our recent CHOICE brand tracking survey showed that 69% of Australian consumers would be 'likely' to consider a product that features the CHOICE Recommended logo.
[The question was: 'To what extent would seeing a product or advertisement featuring the logo [CHOICE Recommended] impact your purchase decision.' Sample size n=1500 Australian adults]
The logo is subject to a Deed of Licence and a licence fee which is re-invested in CHOICE product testing.

Ever wondered why we test the way we test? CHOICE tests according to Standard methods if we think they are sufficiently rigorous and consumer- focused. In many cases however, we design our own methods to reflect as much as possible how consumers use products, so that our reports can answer the questions most relevant for them.
Our expert testers and content specialists regularly put together industry seminars that provide valuable insights into how we design and conduct our tests (including hands-on demonstrations of selected tests), and how we interpret the results.
The seminars share our consumer-focused thinking with manufacturers. This knowledge not only improves your understanding of how we operate, but can also be applied in future product design (leading to better products) and standard development (leading to better standards).
Seminars are usually limited to 10-12 participants, depending on the subject matter. We charge a fee for these seminars. Any surplus after covering costs flows into our consumer product testing program.
Seminar schedule for 2015 so far:
- Clothes dryers 2015
- Fridges 2015
- TVs 2015
- Ovens 2015
Contact us if you're interested in finding out more about a scheduled seminar, or want to discuss setting up a seminar for a product that's not listed.
Are you interested in the raw data that sits behind our published scores for your models? For relevant products and for scores that are based on measured results rather than comparative subjective assessments, you can purchase Raw Data Reports - contact us for details and prices.
