Serious safety hazard
Bridgestone has recalled Supercat tyres, size 215/60R16 95V, due to a defect in the tread/belt of some samples. The defect could lead to a rapid loss of air pressure, which can be a serious hazard if you're driving when it happens – you could lose control of the vehicle.
The affected tyres were made in Thailand and were imported and sold by Bridgestone Australia between 1 May 2010 and 8 February 2016 through Bridgestone Select, Bridgestone Service Centres and Bridgestone Tyre Centres.
If you think you have the affected tyres, you should avoid driving on them as much as possible. Contact Bridgestone on the toll-free number 1800 354 864 or email email@example.com for free replacements.
Note that it seems the recalled Supercat tyres are being replaced with comparable Firestone and Bridgestone models, which has led to a temporary shortage of Firestone and Bridgestone tyres in this particular size.
CHOICE tested the 215/60R16 tyre size in 2012, but we didn't include the Supercat tyre. We can't fit in every brand or model of a given size, so we focus on the most popular and widely available brands and models.
