How to log in

I've forgotten my login details.

No problem, just use the 'forgot password?' link and follow the prompts. If you can't remember the email address you used to set up your account, call Customer Service on 1800 069 552 (free call within Australia) from Monday to Friday, 9.00am–5.00pm AEST. You can also email us here.

I logged in, now the website seems to have logged me out.

To protect your security, you'll need to log in every time you visit the site. If you'd like to stay logged in for 30 days, please tick the check box above the log in button.

TIP: use your browser's 'save password' functionality to keep your login details handy.

I can't find my profile page.

Once you've logged in you'll need to click the menu button and the profile button will expand out.

Search

Our enhanced site search now lets you use both keywords and product details to get the information you need faster.

How does the new site search work?

Based on the keywords you use, we'll give you the closest-matched articles and reports below in search results. Our new product-focused search also lets you drill down by product group, brand and price. Just scroll down the page to use it to refine your results, or click 'refine search' if you're on a mobile or tablet device.

TIP: You can also use the product search results to compare products side-by-side. Just right-click on the models in the product list to open each one in a new tab.

Product pages

What if I want to know about a specific product?

Each product now has a dedicated page with detailed test results, specs and high resolution product shots. Product pages let you rate and talk about specific brands and models with other CHOICE members. They also include an improved Price and Buy service to help you get a better deal.

Site content

I can't find an article I was reading on your old site?

Every piece of content on the old CHOICE website was fact-checked and edited before it was transferred across to the new site. In some cases we felt the content wasn't up-to-date enough to come over, so the important facts from that article have been incorporated into a newer article.

I can't find the advice that sat alongside your product tests on the old site?

The new site's content has been divided into product groups with three content types:

  • Buying guides – to help you narrow down what sort of product or service you need.
  • Reports – tests and comparisons of products and services.
  • Articles – product advice, information and reviews.

How can I request that a specific product be tested?

Send us an email using our Request a test form. Please note we make every effort add products to our testing based on your feedback, but can't guarantee we'll be able to fulfill the request.

Comparison tables

What's different about the new comparison tables?

Our comparison tables are now mobile-friendly, so they resize to fit whatever screen you're using. Read our top tips below before you get started. We've also got answers to more specific questions underneath.

What are criteria and how do I use them?

'Criteria' sounds pretty scientific, but it's just a name we've used to group together all the features we test, plus the details and specs of each product in the table.

We've hand-picked criteria we think most people will want – like overall score and price – and that's what you'll see when you first open the report. But there are many more options to choose at the top of the table.

How do I change or pick new criteria?

Choose and change your picks at the top of the table. Just use the 'Show all criteria' dropdown to see them all. Update your picks by selecting or unselecting the ticks on each criterion, then click 'Apply changes' at the bottom to save them.

How do I make sure I see all the products in the report when I'm sorting columns?

You'll see all the products in the table by default. If you're a member, then by default they'll sort by overall score.

How do I sort the data in each of the columns?

To sort the data in any of the columns, just click on the top of the column you want to compare. Click once to sort from highest to lowest. Click again to reverse the sort order.

How can I see more detailed information about a specific product or model?

If you're using a desktop or laptop, use your mouse to right-click on a product name in the table to open it in a new tab. That way you won't lose any customisation in the main table.

If you're using a tablet, hold down the product name on your touchscreen. Then choose 'Open in a new tab' to save your customisation.

What's the best way to keep all the information the way I've set it up in the table?

We recommend customising the full table on a desktop or laptop. To keep your customisation, make sure you right-click on a product to open each product page in a new tab. Once you've narrowed down a shortlist you can use your mobile or tablet in-store to view specific product pages.

Can I compare two or more products side-by-side?

Our new tables aren't designed for side-by-side comparison, but if you right-click on a product to open the individual product page in a new tab, you can view as many products as you need in separate tabs.We recommend doing this on a desktop or laptop computer.

I want to print the comparison table to take it to the shops

The comparison tables now work on your smartphone or tablet, wherever and whenever you need them. But if you really want it on paper, first set up your printer's specs in your browser settings. Choose the print settings (e.g. orientation, margins, scaling, etc) that work best for your unique browser and printer model.

TIP: If you've already shortlisted a few products, print out the individual product pages.

Price and Buy

I can't see the model you tested in the Price and Buy search results.

If we can't find an exact match for the product, we'll give you the closest-matched models.

I can't see any second-hand models in the Price and Buy search results.

We give you results for new models only.

I'm having problems buying the product in the Price and Buy search results

CHOICE provides Price and Buy to help you find a better deal. Once you've clicked through to an affiliate's website we suggest you try their support pages for help with any purchasing or technical issues. Your account

How do I make changes to my account details or membership package?

You can edit or change membership details, including your password, by logging into your profile page. To get to your profile, just click on the Menu in the top right hand corner, then click on the light blue Profile button located to the left.

To make changes to your membership package online, go your profile page on our old website. We're currently working on the new site's profile page to let you make membership changes here too.

CHOICE digital magazine for iPad and Android

What is the CHOICE digital magazine and CHOICE Computer digital magazine?

These magazines are the digital versions of our traditional print magazines – CHOICE and CHOICE Computer. The digital magazines are available for Android and iPad tablets and are compatible with iPad, iPad Mini, iPad Air with iOS6 and above and Android tablets that have large screens running 4.0.3 or above.

The digital magazines are NOT compatible with iPhone or iPod devices, Android smartphones or on a desktop.

How do I download the CHOICE digital magazine app and CHOICE Computer digital magazine to my tablet?

To download the digital magazine to your iPad:

  • Go to the App store on your device.
  • Search for CHOICE magazine or CHOICE Computer magazine.
  • Tap the 'Get' and 'Install' buttons.
  • Add you iTunes password when prompted.
  • Tap 'Open' after the app has finished installing.
  • Click the 'Sign in' link in the top left of the screen and sign in using your CHOICE login.
  • The 'Buy' buttons will now change to 'Download' for the magazines in your membership period.
  • Tap the magazine cover to download.

To download the digital magazine to your Android tablet:

  • Tap Play Store.
  • Search for CHOICE magazine or CHOICE Computer magazine.
  • Tap the icon and click 'Install'.
  • Tap 'Open' once the app has finished installing.
  • Click the three vertical dots in the top right and sign in with your CHOICE login.
  • The price underneath the magazine covers will change to 'Purchased' for the magazines in your membership period.
  • Tap the magazine cover to download.

After I've downloaded the app how can I access my digital magazines?

For iPad – click into 'Newsstand' and then tap on the CHOICE cover image. This will take you to the store front. Once you've signed in with your CHOICE login, the button below the magazine images will say 'Download'. If there are magazines before your subscription started, the button will say 'Buy'. Once a magazine is downloaded, it will appear in the 'library' which is the button to the left-hand side of 'store'.

For Android – click the CHOICE app icon in your applications and you'll see all the magazines listed. After logging in with your CHOICE login, the price underneath each cover image will change to 'purchased' unless it is before your subscription period started. To download an issue, tap the cover image.

What type of membership do I need to access the digital magazine?

Do the digital magazines expire?

No, the magazines never expire. Once you've viewed an issue, you may archive it for future download if you wish. Archiving an issue will remove it from your device and create more space, but you'll still be able to download it again at any time.

  • To archive on iPad, click 'library' and click 'Archive' top right. Then click the x to select those you want to archive. If you wish to download it again, just click the 'Download' button in the store view.
  • To archive on Android, click the three dots underneath the cover image and click 'Archive'. To download it again, tap the cover image.
