The overall score is made up of ease of use (40%), noise (40%), boil performance (10%) and energy efficiency (10%).
In some instances, at the request of members and when products are still available on the second-hand market and via sites like eBay, we include discontinued models in the tables. 'Active' indicates they can still be found in shops and 'inactive' that they are discontinued models.
We score the following equally weighted factors: controls, filling, pouring, removing/replacing on the base, water level indicator, balance and handle comfort.
