Wireless speaker reviews

We compare 16 wireless Bluetooth speakers, priced from $199 to $399, including models from Sony, Bose and Logitech.

Last updated: 14th August 2014

These days most people are listening to music on their smartphones rather than iPods or MP3 players, and most prefer to keep their phones in easy reach rather than leaving them in a speaker dock. Enter wireless speakers.

A wireless speaker can be placed anywhere in your home within reach of a power point – or if it has a rechargeable battery, you can enjoy your music anywhere. Connections between the devices are made using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.

There's no escaping the fact that a good, larger speaker will find it easier to deliver higher volumes, but many of the smaller models tested produced surprisingly good audio when played at all but the highest volumes.
