Our testers, Antonio Bonacruz, and Matthew Tung, test each high chair against the Australian Standard for high chairs, AS 4684:2009. This standard also calls for compliance with at least one of the international standards, so we refer to the European Standard EN 14988.
Recommended: Passes our key safety and durability tests. Some models may have some very minor failures.
Worth considering: Minor safety failures such as finger entrapment hazards, sharp edges or one button buckling devices.
Not recommended: Major safety or durability failure, such as stability or lack of any harness or equivalent restraint.
Our recommendations are currently safety-based and don't include ease of cleaning scores. These are listed separately.
Note: We only recommend models with 5-point harnesses.
