03.Rewards programs compared

While Franklins and Myer loyalty programs are a little better, the Coles (FlyBuys) and Woolworths programs offer very little value for grocery shoppers. All loyalty programs will cost you money if you consciously or unconsciously change your shopping behaviour by shopping more often and exclusively at one store, as you will miss out on specials at other stores.

Loyalty programs can collect an enormous amount of very personal data, and some stores use this to individually target their messages to you to maximise their margins. It pays to be mindful of the kind of information you provide by using loyalty cards, as this information is usually worth much more to the retailer than any potential rewards you may earn.
