Secateurs

Test results for 17 pairs of secateurs from $20 to $99

We tested them for:

  • comfort
  • usability
  • ease of reassembly after cleaning
  • ease in performing light and heavy work
  • the quality of their instructions.

Findings:

  • Three models stood out as top performers, but if your garden doesn’t need a lot of tough pruning, you might prefer to pick one with a higher ease of use score.
  • If you want your secateurs to last, look after them.
  • The best performers are ones that cut your plants cleanly and don’t hurt your hand with prolonged use.
