The RED ROOSTER
chicken pieces on offer are less fatty than KFC Original Recipe, probably because there’s no batter-like coating, and if you choose lower-fat side dishes like potato and gravy or peas instead of chips, things look even better. But the real star of the line-up is the Sub 97 — a low-fat sub roll with barbecue chicken, salad and mayo. This offering gets the fat way down to only four grams a serve.
Just don't assume that all of Red Rooster's
menu items fit the same bill: its Strip Sub (crunchy chicken breast strips, herb sauce and lettuce in a freshly cooked baguette) and Flayva (crunchy chicken breast strips, herb sauce, lettuce, cheddar cheese and tomato in a fresh tortilla) contain around two and two-and-a-half tablespoons of fat respectively — largely due to the crunchy coating on the chicken.
