With prices starting at a little over $200, that’s around 10 cents per GB or a hundredth of a cent per MB! Though these drives offer huge capacity, with digital recording becoming more common even these drives start to fill up relatively quickly. You should have an external drive even bigger than the one that’s inside your PC so you can back it all up, preferably with more than one snapshot of your data.

We bought and tested nine 2TB external hard drives with a variety of connections from USB 2.0, to the newest and fastest USB 3.0 standard, and compared them for performance, ease of use and features.
