And the winner is... Breville Fast Slow Cooker

Having tested cooking appliances for 15 years there are very few small ones I recommend.

As well as its cooking performance, I consider how versatile a product is, whether it will take up precious cupboard or bench space, how often it’ll be used, whether this method of cooking can be done on a cooktop or oven, and, basically, whether it’s really necessary.

CHOICE_AWARDS_2012_Tester3The Breville Fast Slow Cooker is a one-pot wonder – it’s four appliances in one. You can sear your meat and vegetables in it ready for a long slow cook and have a meal ready when you get home.

Or, you can cook comfort foods in a quarter of the usual time. It also steams vegetables and rice, and is so easy to use, with comprehensive instructions and recipes.

This appliance is great for the busy family and costs about $200 – less than buying separate specialised products. And don’t forget, these methods of cooking suit cheaper cuts of meats as well as legumes and pulses.
