What are the hazards?

The television may ignite internally and emit smoke while in use.

What are the defects?

May contain a component that in a rare number of cases could over-heat and ignite, possibly resulting in melting of the upper rear casing of the television.

What should consumers do?

Sony is voluntarily initiating a programme to perform a free inspection and, if necessary, a free repair. Customers who own one of the affected products should contact our Customer Contact Centre on 1300 13 7669 (SONY) to arrange an inspection of the TV.

Important: If customers notice any abnormality in the TV's operation (e.g. an unusual noise, smell or smoking), they should immediately unplug the power cable, stop using the TV and contact Sony.
