01.Marine Power International Mercruiser recall

A recall has been issued for Marine Power International's MerCruiser Inline 4 cylinder 135 HP petrol stern drive marine engine, with serial numbers 1A072812 - 1A650359.

What are the hazards?

The consumer may not be able to start the engine.

What are the defects?

The engine wiring harness may be routed incorrectly and may become damaged from contact with the shift plate mounting bracket. The defect could lead to the following:

  • the starter engages and cranks the engine, but the engine does not start; or 
  • the starter does not operate or crank the engine.
