South Australia and Victoria-based discount variety store chain Cheap as Chips has recalled it puffer urchin ball toy because the cord (and "hair") provides a yo-yo effect and can stretch to over the safe limit of 500mm in length as mandated by Consumer Protection Notice 20 of 2011.

What are the hazards?
The cord (and "hair") could wind around a child’s neck, especially if swung around the head. The highly elastic and ‘sticky’ nature of the cord (and "hair") can constrict breathing if wound tightly around a child’s neck and cause choking.
