From smartphones to tablets and tethering our wireless devices when we are out and about, new local research shows that the technology habits of Australian households are changing.

Reports today reveal that the average Australian household now has up to eight internet connected devices, with all often being used simultaneously. Multi-screen use continues to rise with this research indicating that 58% of us are using a tablet or smartphone while watching television.

The research conducted by Telsyte of 1018 Australians also reveals that some homes have up to 20 devices, thanks to some household members upgrading their technology and passing on their older devices to others in the home, such as their children.

And when it comes to staying connected when we are out and about, research has shown that we are increasingly comfortable with using Wi-Fi hotspots and tethering devices via smartphones as growth in dedicated mobile broadband devices slows down.
