General

What are these new Digital CHOICE and Digital CHOICE Computer products?

These are the new digital versions of our traditional print magazines, CHOICE and CHOICE Computer. They can be accessed via your iPad, and offer new interactive features and tools to help you get more from your CHOICE experience each month.

What is Digital CHOICE Plus and Digital CHOICE Computer Plus?

The same as above but also including full, unlimited access to our CHOICE website, which includes premium content, unbiased product reviews and in-depth tests, interactive comparison tools and member benefit services such as Price and Buy.

What device/devices can I access the Digital CHOICE App from?

The Digital CHOICE magazine and CHOICE Computer magazine App are currently available for iPad, iPad Mini and Android tablets. See Android FAQs here.

Which versions and devices of iOS is the CHOICE digital magazine compatible with?

The app is compatible with iPads with iOS6 or above. The digital magazine is NOT compatible with iPhone or iPod devices.

Member Trial

I was unable to download my trial issues and now the free member trial is over.

Unfortunately the free member trial period ended on 30 November 2013 and the trial is now closed.

Single issues of the magazines are available to purchase for $10.49 per issue from the App Store.

Do I have access to the free member trial editions after the trial period?

Provided you downloaded your editions during the trial period you will always have access to them through your tablet device, as they do not expire.

Switch

I'm a member and want to switch my membership to the digital version. How do I switch?

Switching your membership can be done through our membership switching page.

I’m a member and have tried to switch my membership from a print to a digital magazine, but was unable to do so on the CHOICE website.

Switching your membership can be done through our membership switching page. You’ll need to have a CHOICE login email address and password, and your CHOICE membership must be current.

If you do not have all these details or still require assistance, please contact the CHOICE Member Services team on 1800 069 552 during normal business hours (AEST).

If I switch my membership to the digital app version, do I still receive the print versions of CHOICE or CHOICE Computer magazine?

No. Once you have switched to the digital version of the magazine you’ll no longer receive the print version.

Can I have both the digital and print version of CHOICE or CHOICE Computer magazine?

If you wish to receive both the digital version and print version of the magazine you’ll need two separate product subscriptions. These can be purchased through the CHOICE membership page.

If I've switched to the digital magazine but wish to return to receiving a print version, how do I do this?

You can change your membership back to receive the print version of the magazine at any time. Please contact the CHOICE Member Services team on 1800 069 552 during normal business hours (AEST).

I’ve switched to the digital version of the magazine. How do I know when the next issue is available?

Your tablet device has the ability to receive “push notifications”. This means that when a new version is available for download, your device can alert you to this.

To enable push notifications on an iOS device, go to >> Settings >> Notifications and select the CHOICE app. Ensure notification centre is set to “on”.

Membership

I’ve purchased a single issue/recurring monthly Digital CHOICE Magazine via the App Store. Does that make me a CHOICE member?

No, you are a customer of the App Store if you only purchase a single issue or recurring monthly issue of the digital magazine. However, to enjoy the full benefits of being a CHOICE member you can subscribe through the CHOICE membership page. There are a variety of options available.

I don’t know my CHOICE membership password.

If you know your CHOICE login email address, you can request a password reset via our sign in page.

If you don’t know your CHOICE login email address or have never logged on to choice.com.au, please contact the CHOICE Member Services team on 1800 069 552 during business hours (AEST) for further help.

What is the difference between subscribing via the App Store and subscribing through the CHOICE website?

By subscribing to a CHOICE product via choice.com.au you have the opportunity to access our full range of benefits, including unlimited online access to product reviews and in-depth tests, interactive comparison tools, member services such as Price and Buy, and the support of the CHOICE Member Services team. (Please note: this full range of benefits depends on the membership type you select.) For more information, visit the CHOICE membership page to review the variety of subscription types and their individual benefits.

By purchasing a single or recurring CHOICE digital magazine product through the App Store you’ll be billed by them and will need to contact the App Store for any customer service or billing enquiries.

How do I become a CHOICE member?

Simply visit the CHOICE membership page or call our CHOICE Member Services team on 1800 069 552 during business hours (AEST).

I have an App Store subscription but want to become a CHOICE member by subscribing directly through the CHOICE website.

You will first need to turn off your auto monthly recurring subscription in the App Store. Refer to the App Store FAQs below for instructions on how to do this.

You can then become a CHOICE member by purchasing a CHOICE subscription through the CHOICE membership page or by calling our Customer Service team on 1800 069 552 during business hours (AEST).

I haven’t downloaded last month’s issue. Can I still download it?

Yes, you can download any issues you have missed as long as you were a CHOICE Digital member during that period.

I've just signed up for a Digital CHOICE product, but can't see the latest edition in the app store.

If you become a member of Digital CHOICE magazine before 30st November 2013, you will be entitled not only to the November edition but also the issues from August, September and October.

The August edition will be available first, followed by the free September trial issue, which should be in-store the week of the 14th October. The free October trial issue should be in-store the week of the 21st October.

If you become a member of Digital CHOICE Computer magazine before 31st November 2013, you will be entitled to not only the Sep/Oct edition but also the Jul/Aug edition.

The Sep/Oct edition of CHOICE Computer magazine should be in-store the week of the 14th October.

If you have push notifications turned on in the CHOICE and CHOICE Computer apps,  you will be notified when the issues are available for download.

App Store

Where will I find the most current issues available, and my most recent downloaded issues?

In the CHOICE Magazine app, tap the Store button. All available issues can be accessed here. To access downloaded issues tap the Library button.

My issue won’t download.
  1. Make sure you are connected to the internet.
  2. Make sure you have purchased the issue. Either individually or as part of a subscription.

If these steps don’t allow you to download, see “I am having general problems with my app” below.

I updated my app and now I don't see my purchases. How do I restore them?
  1. Tap the Store button at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap the Restore Purchases tab, located on the top right hand side of the screen.
  3. You may be prompted to log in with your Apple ID. Enter your details.

Your purchases should now be restored.

Do the digital editions expire?

No, but you may archive issues for future download if you wish.

I am having general problems with my app. How do I restart it?
  1. Double-tap the Home button on the bottom front of your iPad to bring up a row containing apps currently running on your device. 
  2. Hold down CHOICE app icon until it “shakes”.
  3. Tap on the red circle to stop and close the app.  This does not delete the app.
  4. Press the home key, and re-open the Newsstand app
  5. Re-open the CHOICE app
Will the app run on an iPhone?

No, currently the CHOICE app is only available for iPad, and iPad mini tablet devices

How do subscriptions renewals work?

Subscriptions will be automatically renewed unless auto renewal is turned off.

If the price of your CHOICE subscription changes, you will need to renew your subscription manually.

Using my iPad, how do I turn off auto renewal on a subscription?
  1. Go to Settings on your iPad
  2. Tap on ‘iTunes and App Stores’
  3. Tap on your Apple ID and sign in
  4. Tap on ‘Manage’ under the Subscriptions heading
  5. Tap on the title of the subscription

Inside this you can turn ‘off’ Auto-Renew

I can’t see the September or October issue

The September issue should be in-store the week of the 14th October, and the October issue should be in-store the week of the 21st October.

If you have push notifications turned on in the CHOICE and CHOICE Computer apps,  you will be notified when the issues are available for download.
