CHOICE Member in the Spotlight

 Malcolm Pryor Family

Introducing CHOICE Online member Malcolm Pryor. Malcolm has been married to Rosemary for 20 years this year and has three children, Joseph, Wesley and Charlotte. He is a train driver and private music teacher.

Why did you join CHOICE?

My parents always subscribed and I loved reading it when I was young.

What section of CHOICE do you read first and why?

I always read the product reviews first. I like seeing what innovations have been incorporated into new products and I love those reviews CHOICE does that say, “You may have heard about this product. But is it any good?”

Have you made any CHOICE recommended purchases?

We’ve made many! Our favourites are the Uniden Cordless Phone with an excellent base station, the Samsung vacuum that was reviewed as equal to the Dyson (and it is!) at less than $200, the iPad that everyone uses, our iPhone 3 (hers) and iPhone 4 (his), a Philips hand blender and Raco frypans (I do most of the cooking, and make many soups in winter).

Which CHOICE campaigns have you found to be most important to you?

The current country of origin labelling campaign is the most important to me. We try very hard to only buy food that is Australian manufactured by an Australian-owned company, and the existing labelling makes making this decision really difficult. At least we’ve found Aussie Farmers Direct.

What product/s would you like to see CHOICE put to the test?

Man stuff! Chainsaws, hedge trimmers, drop saws, drills, hammer drills, work benches, electric planers, hammers – particularly with a view to seeing if any of the electric replacements work as well as the petrol-powered ones.
